DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
The All of Us Research Program is a historic effort coordinated by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to collect data from one million or more people living in the United States and help build one of the most diverse health databases in history. Researchers will use the data to learn how our biology, lifestyle, and environment affect health. This could help them develop better treatments and ways to prevent different diseases.
A division of the NIH All of Us Research Program, the Experience Team is responsible for creating a clear, easy-to-use, and compelling set of online experiences for All of Us participants and researchers that complement and extend offline touchpoints. The participant and researcher experiences encompass digital products, content and tools across the product lifecycle, from helping participants and researchers learn about the program, enrolling, sharing or using data, and being continuously engaged in program activities. The Experience Team works closely with the NIH leadership team and program partners to define, design and implement content, tools and services in support of program goals.
DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
The Senior Design Researcher, Participant UX helps to inform proposals and project scopes with recommended design research approaches together with the Director of Design Research, Qual, senior product design strategists, and project managers. This role supports the participant experience team, which focuses on delivering valuable, easy to use experiences to diverse groups of participants enrolled in the All of Us Research Program.
The Senior Design Researcher, Participant UX will report directly to the Director of Design Research, Qual.
Key responsibilities include –
Conducting stakeholder interviews and kick-off meetings to ensure understanding and alignment of project goals and research needs.
Designing, executing, and analyzing primary research (interviews, surveys, focus groups, etc)
Creating participant screens, recruit through vendors or other means, and create research protocols
Writing compelling narrative about personas, audiences, and other cohorts to bring to life the audiences we are trying to reach
Translating research observations into meaningful insights and opportunities that will help frame design exploration
Collaborating with strategists, designers, and business stakeholders to support research needs as well as the continued inclusion of research in the design process to ensure quality deliverables.
Building as necessary any visuals that help explain and decode complex situations such as life cycle maps, user journey maps, and ecosystem models.
Designing and facilitating workshops with both internal and external project teams and collaborating with directors and leads to synthesize outputs
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
8 years- experience in design research, user research, human factors, usability, strategy or related field
Deep knowledge of research methodologies and be engaged with and aware of changes in the field.
Excellent social and communication skills, particularly in moderation/facilitation and client presentation
Able to execute a wide range of user research activities
Experience researching across software, hardware, physical, and/or human interactions
Bachelor’s degree

A high emotional intelligence and an ability to empathize with clients, co-workers, and users
An ability to dig deep, turn information into insight and make the complex simple and digestible
An ability to work in dynamic, often ambiguous conditions requiring rapid transitions
An ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary groups
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, anthropology, communication studies, human factors, human computer interaction or a related field
